Siips
Siips is a unique Wine and Champagne Bar & Bistro offering over 75 wines and champagnes by the glass nightly. Siips is the creation of George Benford, who has traveled around the world taking notes about various wine bars and developing an atmosphere for wine lovers and wine enthusiasts. "Far too often one goes to a restaurant or bar and can only purchase less than spectacular wines by the glass. People are forced to buy bottles of wine in order to have a decent wine." Siips offers outstanding wines such as Jordan, Cakebread, ZD, Moet and others by the glass and at reasonable prices.
Siips offers lunch, after 4:00 p.m. dinner and after 9:00 p.m. dessert specialty menus. Siips Sunday Brunch has been very popular with our Half Price Sunday wine selection. Now that Siips has been open for over a year, we have added more fun with Tango Night and Sunday afternoon Ballroom Dancing. Siips will have Live Entertainment every Friday & Saturday evening beginning at 9:00 p.m.
Siips opened its doors on December 26, 2007 and has already been hailed one of Charlottesville's most attractive and relaxing locations. Siips has seating for up to 118 people and takes reservations for parties of 6 or more.
Our Goal
Siips is a unique Wine and Champagne Bar offering quality wines and Champagnes at reasonable prices. Our goal is to increase our customers’ appreciation of wines and
Champagnes. We will endeavor to accomplish our goal through introducing new wines and Champagnes from various regions of the world.
Each month we will present a different region such as Northern California, South
Africa or Burgundy. We will offer an expanded wine list for the selected region plus wine seminars and wine dinners.
Daily Specials
Wines opened during the preceding day are properly sealed and stored overnight and are posted and sold the next day from 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday (while supplies last) at $6.95 per 6oz pour. The list of available wines is posted daily, and it may include Champagnes, White and Red Wines. Siips does not offer wines which have been opened for more than 48 hours. We believe in serving wines which are fresh, and we date the opening of all wines.
Early Evening Specials
Wines opened during the preceding day are properly sealed and stored overnight and are posted and sold from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday (while supplies last) at 30% off their menu prices.
Half Price Sundays
Wines opened during the preceding day are properly sealed and stored overnight and are posted and sold Sundays from 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Sunday (while supplies last) at 50% off their menu prices.
Retail Wine Shop
Siips endeavors to offer wines to purchase for off premise usage at a bottle rate which is less than most retail stores. We offer only those quality wines which are selected by our owner and we offer them at exceptional prices. Siips Wine Club members get an additional 5% off of non-sale items. We guarantee our wines are the lowest priced for the quality wines we sell.
Siips Wine Club Membership
Join the Siips Wine Club and receive such special features as 10% off your lunch bill (Monday-Friday until 3:00 p.m.), 5% off all non-sale retail wines, and 5% off all wine tastings and wine dinners. Discounts do not include on-premise beverages.
Siips “Pour by glass policy”
Certain wines may not be available for “pour by the glass” within one hour of closing time.
Changes to Wine Menus
Prices, availability and vintages often change. Since we cannot always change our extensive menus, our knowledgeable staff will attempt to alert you of such changes whenever possible.
