Their vineyards are planted on an ancient riverbed covered with cailloux, or round weathered stones. The Dardé brothers are well known for their exemplary red wines of deep concentration. However, their best-kept secret may be their Rosé. Made from three grapes, this wine exudes red fruits and a strawberry perfume. This Rosé is a blend of 60% Syrah, 35% Grenache, 5% Mourvèdre, and comes from tiny berries of forty-plus year old vines. Fermented a short time on its skins, it retains an electric pink color, soaring aromatics, and fully dry palate.
Shiraz – Boarding Pass 2006 – Australia     Bottle - $35.00
This 2006 Shiraz was aged in French and American oak for 12 months. It’s purple-color is very expressive, with a nose of smoke, spice box, blackberry, and blueberry jam. Layered, supple-textures, sweet, and full-bodied, this seamless, crowd-pleasing wine offers a remarkably long finish for its humble price. The Boarding Pass label is just that, a dead ringer for an airplane boarding pass. According to Dan Philips, it is like going on a trip to Australia without leaving home while the First Class is a luxury upgrade. 92 points Parker.
Shiraz – Two Hands Gnarly Dudes – 2008 - Australia 3oz - $8.50 6oz - $15.00 Bottle - $47.00
Gnarly Dudes is named for the gnarly old vines that stand around all lifetime long looking like they are soldiers ready to be led into battle. Year in and year out they throw a crop of beautiful fruit that is tamed and put into this wine. Shiraz grapes, mature vines and the Barossa Valley, there is nothing quite like it. Color: Deep black with a slight purple hue. Aroma: Vibrant lifted notes of red berries, rich plum with hints of clove and spice followed by a subtle influence of oak. Taste: A lush mouth filling palate backed by a core of rich red to purple fruits. Shows a great deal of intensity, but the fruit is lively with a degree of restraint.
Syrah – Bonny Doon 2005 – California 3oz - $7.00 6oz - $13.00 Bottle - $38.00
2005 was a coolish year, one of elegance and restraint. The ‘06 is extremely refined; the wine (when decanted) has an especially seductive perfume. The signifiers of this Syrah: bacon fat is quite evident, as is the scent of licorice, anise, wintergreen, violet, and spicy elements – white pepper, most notably, juniper, cardamom, and sandalwood. There is also a brilliant mineral element herein – mostly in virtue of shy-yielding grapes. The texture is particularly noteworthy, with melted, creamy tannins and a very silky finish.
Syrah – Ridge Lytton West 2005 – California 3oz - $10.00 6oz - $18.00 Bottle - $57.00
95 points, three stars and the top rated Syrah in the March issue of the Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: "6% Viognier. There is a sense of refinement and pure precision about this bottling that not only moves it to the head of the class but sets it in a class all its own. This wine is very deep and impeccably structured, it eschews runaway ripeness in favor of layered richness and real nuance, and it begs for comparison with the fine wines of Côte Rôtie rather than its more blustery Californian kin. It is as classy and sophisticated as local Syrah is likely to get, and it is bound to age famously by dint of balance and depth." Aged for 21 months in air-dried American oak, this bold, complex wine is fruit-forward with plenty of syrah spice.

This cuvee is based on 20-25-year old Soleras. The Soleras is not a ranking but a system.
